How to enable admin shares in Win7

It seems Microsoft has decided that we no longer need access to the admin shares (i.e. \\pcname\c$  etc) we've had in XP and prior versions of Windoze.

Win7 actually does have them, but it does not use them by default.

Some clever guys have found a way to do it and here it is:
  • Fire up regedit
  • Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
  • Create a DWORD called LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy
  • Give it the value of 1
Done!

I have tried this and it works with a need for reboot but, as with all things Windoze, you probably best reboot and hold your breath.

Enjoy!
